  • ~ wa — desu → ~ is/are —
  • ~ wa — desu ka → Is ~ —?
  • — wa nan(i) desu ka → what is/are —?
  • — wa doku desu ka → where is/are —?
  • ~ wa — ga arimasu → ~ has (a) —
  • anata no — → your —
  • watashi no — → my —
  • — (w)o kudasai → please give me —
  • — ((w)o) onegaishimasu → please give me — (a bit more polite)
    (onegaishimasu must be used when asking for a service or asking for someone on the phone)
  • -te kudasai → please...
    tabete kudasai → please eat (-te form of taberu/tabemasu)
