Robert's Roleplaying Plans

Just a place to keep tabs on roleplaying things I'd like to do.

(Some quick/recent notes: Dragon Warriors. Renewed interest in Fudge. Some interest in something homebrew, maybe Dinky Dungeonesque.)

The Fantastic Constantinian Campaign: A campaign set in the Roman Empire around the time of Constantine. While loosely based in history, it's pure fantasy. This almost has to be some form of D&D. I'm leaning towards OD&D.

I had shelved this as I thought I wasn't going to try to run this kind of "epic" style again, but I may be changing my mind.

The Greymoor Silvion Campaign: Inspired by the stories of Arneson's Blackmoor campaign, Gygax's Greyhawk campaign, Kuntz's Kaliburn campaign, & al. Goals:

Right now I'm considering using the Grand Duchy of K map, but just the map. Also, I'm thinking of using the Known World map from X1. I may borrow some names & ideas from it, though.

Finish LotR Campaign: Our heroes have defeated two villians, but have uncovered clues of possibly another. (I have some ideas for maybe speeding up play with the Coda system.) This is going to take some serious prep work for me to get ready to run again.

Lejendary Adventure: I like this game a lot, but I don't quite know what I want to do with it yet. I think it would be a perfect fit for The Abduction of Good King Despot, but beyond that, I don't know.

LA may be a good fit for Denaria, a campaign world idea of mine that isn't very developed yet. The only influence that I can name so far is The Princess Bride.

Additional ideas

Campaign X: Originally, this was planned as a GURPS campaign. Maybe I'll use Fudge or something or just wait until I have a hankering to play GURPS again. The idea combines a few clichés, but should be fun.

Old West: I've got some notes for a wild west game set in Round Rock, Texas c. 1875. I'm aiming for a mix of Brisco County, Jr. meets the Wild Wild West (the TV series, not the film). Don't know what system to use. Originally, it was going to be GURPS, but I'm no longer anxious to run a GURPS game again. Maybe Fudge. Maybe Boot Hill, if I ever get a copy.

Rayguns & Rocketships: I want to run a Flash Gordon/Buck Rodgers/Lensman campaign. I've been working on homebrew rules for it. I don't have many adventure ideas, but I don't know that it needs many.

Wuxia: Basically Dragon Fist. I was going to do this under 3e Oriental Adventures. But (1) I don't care to run 3e right now & (2) the 3e OA didn't feel like a lot of help in creating a Chinese based campaign. Maybe run it with the original Dragon Fist system? GURPS Martial Arts/China? Fudge? Feng Shui (don't own it yet)? Maybe I should finally read Outlaws of the Water Margin?

Games I'd like to play someday

(All of which I have!)

General ill-defined campaign ideas

Homebrewing rules

Realms of Magic: A roleplaying game inspired by Avalon Hill's Magic Realm & Paul Elliott's The Ladder. Basically all the ideas are there, but I haven't been up to the tedium of typing out the details.

Ars Heroica: This started as a deconstruction of the classic roleplaying game. Then it sort of became a what-if experiment in reconstructing the game differently but in the same spirit. It suffers from some conflicting ideas & goals, however.

d5: This is little more than a metarule. It's a mechanic I like a lot, though, so I'm going to find a game to build around it someday.

Lotek: A sci-fi game with only technology that is available or within our grasp today. I'd really like to play a game like this, but it's a lot of work to do right. It seems it tends to keep my attention even less than other things here.

Warp Horizon: A sci-fi game in the spirit of Traveller, but done my own way. It's really more setting than mechanics. The mechanics are basically d5. (So maybe this is in the wrong section...)

RAD: The d20 System with the following modifications from the UA: generic classes, injury rules, & fixed XP awards. Wealth from d20 Modern. Then either the 3d6 variant from the UA or mid20 or 4d6-read-6-as-zero. & whatever other good rules I can make up or find as OGL.

Iudicia could probably use some additional attention.

Accomplished!

Classic Traveller: Another classic game & another player driven campaign. The referee will provide adventure opportunities. The PCs can pick from among them or make their own.
